Local community volunteers have dedicated countless hours to enhance the environment by regenerating freshwater wetland vegetation, building a boardwalk, weeding, and installing vehicle barriers, a small bridge, and a viewing platform.
The boardwalk, which is 500 feet long, spans over a wetland, transitioning from damp/muddy grasses to sedges in water.
Location: the boardwalk entrance is found on Tarean Road, opposite Wattle Street and beside the Karuah Centre.
Ie Port Stephens Council and Karuah Progress Association have recently secured a grant of $74,558 to provide upgrades, lighting and signage to this boardwalk. Work will be completed before Christmas 2024.
