Established in July 2007, the park is open to visitors throughout the year, except during adverse weather conditions or fire hazards.

The park encompasses areas around Swan Bay and Tanilba Bay, including the small Wirrhng and Swan Islands. It’s a perfect location for picnicking by the water, launching boats, kayaks, or canoes, and paddling in the serene waters of Karuah. For adventure enthusiasts, the park offers a network of 4WD trails, mountain biking, fishing, and birdwatching.

Camping options include Little Mountain campground, a tranquil riverside site ideal for 4WD touring, mountain biking, fishing, paddling, and birdwatching. Tattersalls campground is another charming riverside spot, perfect for bushwalking, birdwatching, and fishing. The area experiences mild weather and lower rainfall during this period, making it ideal for outdoor activities.
